What started as a family business in 1992 in California has grown into a leading nationwide renewables energy company now headquartered in the Pacific Northwest.
Originally named Wholesale Solar, we changed our name to Unbound Solar in October 2020 after Wil VandeWiel was named CEO of the company.
Today, Unbound Solar continues to redefine the way people buy, install, and benefit from renewable energy. We’re here to help individuals and communities harness renewable energy solutions on their own terms.
With equipment from over 50 different manufacturers, we design and deliver solutions that give people exactly what they need based on their unique requirements. We care deeply about our customers and offer lifetime support for each and every solution we sell. From the first phone call to installation and beyond — we’re there every step of the way.
We proudly operate as a 100% employee-owned company through our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) and donate a percentage of sales to charities focused on making our world cleaner, safer, and healthier.

You have a choice on how best to manage getting a new solar electric system. You can hire a full service, turnkey provider, you can do it yourself from beginning to end or you can Do It Your Way – which means taking on as much or as little of the project as you would like.
And, by Doing It Your Way, your total solar costs will be lower and your return on investment much faster.
Large Equipment Selection
Most other providers have relationships with a small number of manufacturers; so, you don’t have the ability to choose specific equipment that meets your needs. With Unbound Solar, you can choose equipment from over 50 manufacturers.
Customized Electrical Diagram Support
An electrical diagram is an invaluable resource during the permitting process and system installation and will be required for the permitting and inspection processes. For our packaged systems, a standard electrical diagram is included, but if you need this diagram customized to your unique needs, we offer that service as an additional option to your overall solar solution.
Individual Permitting & Interconnection Agreement Guidance
Personalized Installation Insights-
Whether you are installing the system on your own, hiring local contractors or a combination of the two, the Unbound Solar team is just a phone call away to answer any questions for you. We can even help as you identify and select contractors to be part of your installation team. Our team of Solar Experts is available Monday – Friday 6 AM – 6 PM and Saturdays 8 AM – 5 PM Pacific Time.
