Grid-Tied
It was very satisfying seeing the meter provide electricity into the grid instead of into the house. Also, I was relieved that the inverter commissioning process went smoothly as I had no experience with this aspect of the project.

Meet Paul Whitmore!
Paul Whitmore installed this Ground Mount Grid-tied System.
Paul has Home Construction and Home Remodeling experience so he was up for the task.
He said his wife was his main helper, especially with the trenching and backfilling, and his son helped with the panel installation. Several neighbors also helped out the day of the concrete pour. He ended up borrowing a backhoe from a friend and making a trench for each row. He said digging there is easy up to 4 feet, but difficult beyond that. Paul said the hardest part of the whole process was digging 7-foot-deep holes for the concrete forms which were necessary for the this ground mount installation. They worked on the installation as time permitted, so all-in-all it took about 6 weeks.
We asked Paul how it felt to get his solar project finished? He said, “It was very satisfying seeing the meter provide electricity into the grid instead of into the house. Also, I was relieved that the inverter commissioning process went smoothly as I had no experience with this aspect of the project.”Paul said they considered a local solar installation company and two other supply companies.
They chose Unbound Solar since it was about half as much as contracting the entire process out, and Unbound Solar provided shipping to Alaska as well as plans for the electric company.Glad to be there for you and your family Paul. Great work on your project.
