Grid-Tied
Once my project was complete, it was a sense of accomplishment, and this one had a great feeling! This system supplements the two existing ones, and, at commissioning, I stood at the meter in awe, watching the kWs going into the grid.

Let’s check out Frank Kislan’s Grid-tied Ground Mount installation in Alaska!:
“My wife and I installed three other solar systems. Two were at our home in Alaska (ground-mounted at 59 degrees) and one at our vacation home (roof-mounted on Spanish tile) in Arizona. I am a retired professional engineer with 30+ years in the construction industry. We did all of our home renovation inside and out! Qualified (in our opinion) contractors in rural Alaska are difficult to find.
The most difficult part of the installation was the construction of the panel rack. A local company installed the stanchions with helical-screw bases. My wife and I hoisted the 250-lb (4″x12″x16′) treated beams into the saddles using ropes, pulleys, and levers! No easy feat for two 60-somethings! It was just my wife, myself, and our John Deere garden tractor to do the heavy lifting!
I hired a local contractor to install the vertical stanchions.
I didn’t need anything other than hand tools since Unbound’s kit was complete.
It took about three weeks from the stanchions’ installation to complete the system and commissioning.
